  1. Audio can help our children develop stronger emotional connections

With the state our of lives at the moment, amidst a pandemic, we may begin to feel isolated and lonely. We also may forget that although our children are extremely resilient, they might be experiencing this as well. There have been studies that have shown that there are many feelings of companionship associated with the act of storytelling. In a study conducted by the National Literacy Trust in July 2020, it was found that 1 in 3 children said that audiobooks helped them feel better during lockdown. Whether it is a story on our platform, or a podcast, or even a story you record yourselves, by sharing these with your children you are fostering a healthy connection and deepening your relationship.

  2. Audio provides a relaxing downtime activity

Our children have extremely busy and energetic lives. They have school, sports, playdates, game time, bath time, dinner time, and so much more. Sometimes children need to have downtime to unwind and spend some time relaxing from their crazy lives. Audiobooks offer children and parents alike the much-needed opportunity to take a breath and sit down. Even if a child is not engaged with the audio format at first, simply by putting an audiobook on in the background of another activity, such as drawing. Many of our frequent users report that they often play audiobooks in the background of many everyday tasks such as dinner, bath or playtime. With this, our children learn to settle down and start to enjoy this quiet but interesting activity.

  3. Never forget that audio is a screen light activity!

Screen fatigue is a very common issues that young people face today with constant screen usage. According to CooperVision, 8 in 10 young people report screen fatigue symptoms, including, tiredness, headaches and blurred vision. It is important to try and regulate this for our kids. With an audiobook, children are free to use their imagination and creativity with no bounds and give them a well-needed break from a screen. Even if a child is playing quietly on an iPad, the "blue light" of the screen begins to take away from the relaxing part of the activity.
